About Ryana:
I represent the 5th City Council District of Kansas City. I began serving my first term in August 2019. I have lived in the 5th district with my family for over 22 years.
I was appointed to the Finance, Governance and Public Safety Committee, and the Special Committee on Housing Policy. I also serve as the Vice Chair of the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Commission, Co-Chair of the Health Commission, and Chair of the Mayor’s Houseless Task Force. I also serve as a member of the Kansas City Zoo, the Starlight, and the KC Shepherd’s Center’s Board of Directors.
I am a long-time healthcare executive with a Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri State University and a Master of Science degree from Southwest Baptist University. I am an alumnus of Ruskin High School in the Hickman Mills School District. I am motivated by my membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, and have a deep passion for community service and improving access to healthcare and healthy lifestyles. I have been a member of St. James United Methodist Church for over 35 years.
I am a caring parent, a successful small business owner, and an experienced leader. Being nominated as a member of the junior court is an honor because I have an opportunity to help raise funds and make a difference in the lives of older adults in Kansas City.
